I may be alone in this but I HATED the midi during songs. If I wanted to hear a horn I'd go see a horn player, I prefered Jerry as a guitarist. Nice toy for space I suppose. I thought of it as a gimmick to cover eroding skills.

I was never a huge MIDI guitar fan either, however, I can't say that it was used as a "cover" for eroding skills...hey if you have the technology, use, what the hell...Jerry was always experimenting with leading edge effects (phase shifters and mutron pedals in the 70s and MIDI in the 80s and 90s)...the boys did use MIDI to phenomenal effect on 09-20-1990 and 03-22-1990, which consequently are 2 of their best shows of that period...
